In addition to the new fences that have been placed, the BLM will be re-signing the Bear Claw Poppy showing the directional flow of the trail. The BCP was designated as a directional trail to reduce the need for passing and mitigate trail braiding and widening.
The directional plan will direct riders up the Micro Loop and down the traditional trail. There will also be four signed shortcuts to allow for multiple loops and lengths. The upper section of the trail will remain bi-directional.
The above sign will be placed at the Navajo Trailhead, at the step-over at the top and in the middle where the direction trail begins/ends. There will also be multiple carsonite signs placed to direct traffic and eliminate trail conflicts.
The directional designation will reduce the width of the trail and help mitigate braiding. The DMBTA also feels it will improve the overall experience of riders as there will be less need for passing and slowing while enjoying the awesome downhill we all love.
As part of the project, the BLM will also be replacing both step-overs. The signs will go in shortly after the New Year. Once an exact date is determined we will update this post.
