Let’s welcome a new rider in Kanab. Tom Meadows enjoys road riding here. He is a self described “transplant from the East Coast”, now living in Kanab. He would like to find some riding companions. Tom is planning to join us on the Road Ride up Johnson Canyon this coming Sunday.

A reminder, this Sunday is The Road Ride up Johnson Canyon. We meet for pre ride snacks at Knuckleheads Bike shop at 7:45-8am, then head up to Johnson Canyon Road.

The following Saturday, May 14th, is the Mountain Bike Ride off the Joy Jordan Trail in Fredonia. Meet at The Fredonia Welcome Center/Red Pueblo Museum at 9am Utah time/8am AZ time.

Also, the Kanab Board is open to setting up regularly scheduled rides. We would like input as to days, times, types of rides, etc. So, please send input to Sue Johnston.

We are fortunate to have Phil Sarnoff, Executive Director, Bike Utah, traveling through Kanab the morning of May 13. He will be able to meet some of us that morning at 8 am. If you would like to meet him, please contact Brian Connelly.

June 4th is National Trails Day! The Healthy Kane County Coalition and Kane County Office of Tourism are currently developing an event to highlight all types of trails in our area. The Cycling Club would like to show off our developing trail near Jacob Hamblin Park. There is an unfinished section of the Blue Trail still waiting for final approvals before we can send bikers to it. However, if it is still not an official bike trail on that date, we may be able to introduce people to our future bike trail by allowing them to walk the 3/4 mile route. I will not be in town that week, so I’m looking for volunteers to help with that event.

Be sure to join our Facebook Page “Kanab Cycling Club“.

Happy Spring! Sue Johnston, Kanab Cycling Club Secretary
