Singletrack Celebration

WP_20150411_12_26_44_RawThis past Saturday the DMBTA gathered with many supporters to celebrate the culmination of two years of work that produced four new trails in the Hurricane Cliffs Network.

The Dixie Mountain Bike Trails Association wanted to thank all of the volunteers and government officials that put in countless hours to make the new trails possible. The celebration started with a quick thank you to those who had been involved. Starting with the BLM, there was Dave Kiel and Kyle Jones. Two passionate mountain bikers that have worked tirelessly to assure we get new trails. And then the big list of volunteers: Morgan Harris, Bill Bergeron, Fred and Regina Pagles, Brian Herreweyers, Quentin and DJ Morisette.

Of course, this doesn’t include the board members of the DMBTA who put in hundreds of hours flagging, designing, writing NEPAs and supervising the trail crews. Many were involved, but Kevin Christopherson deserves a big thanks for the amount of time and effort he put into these last two trails. We all benefitted from having him involved.

After we thanked the volunteers and gave away some t-shirts, a drawing for prizes donated by local businesses took place. Over the Edge Sports donated some of their cloth maps, Gro Promotions hooked up a few luckies with some race entries and their were t-shirts, jackets and more tossed to the crowd.

Sol Foods in Springdale provided drinks and snacks for the crowd as well as many of the prizes.

And to finish it all off, we did what this is all about and took a nice ride around the new trails.

A special thanks to Teena Christopherson for organizing the celebration.
