Pedal Driven

This past October the Dixie Mountain Bike Trails Association partnered with DocUtah to hold a festival styled showing of the movie Pedal Driven. The movie documents that process of working toward building a trail system and shows why working with land management is the only real way to have sustainable, lasting trails.

John Scarafiotti saw the benefit of combining the showing with an evening of bike related fun as an effort of spreading the word about the DMBTA. He teamed up with Fixie Dave Nice and Lukas Brinkerhoff to bring the idea to fruition.

The evening consisted of live music and social gathering where land management representatives from both the BLM and the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve were in attendance to answer attendee questions. It also put faces to the land management organizations of our area.

John and Dave were able to round up lots of prizes that were raffled off throughout the evening.

The event moved indoors for the screening of the film. After which, the film makers were able to answer the audience’s questions and gave the DMBTA the floor for a few minutes to introduce our vision and goals.

Then we went riding.

All in all, the event was a succes. Land management was impressed with the DMBTA’s ability to mobilize the troops and contacted us shortly after to set up regularly scheduled meetings to ensure that the organizations can effectively work together.

It was also successful in raising money for the DMBTA where $4 of every ticket sold was a donation to the organization.

The DMBTA looks forward to growing on the enthusiasm and momentum of the event. Check here often for updates and upcoming projects/events.

We would also like to thank all the volunteers that were involved as well as the film makers for making the trip. And a big thanks to John Scarafiotti without whom the entire event would never have happened.
